He didn't. It came 6 or 7 days after he crawled. Like Jen, though, I think they go hand in hand. <br /><br />People kept telling us to motivate him with toys, but he never really cared enough for any one toy to go after it. Cheerios on the floor, however, turned out to be the right motivator. Jillian figured both out within days of each other. I think it is because to do either you have to learn how to stop yourself from just going backwards first. I am picturing it in my head and I just love it. :)<br /><br />I started calling Bean a toddler at 12 months, even though he wasn't walking (and wouldn't until almost 16 months).
